Fondazione Pietro Rossini

Large-scale sculptures in a landscaped park

Just north of Milan is a park that fuses modern and contemporary sculpture, architecture, and landscape. It is, in fact, an open-air museum, founded in 2010 by entrepreneur Alberto Rossini and his wife, Luisa, in memory of their son Pietro. Alberto Rossini’s interest in art began in the 1950s. Several large sculptures are located in the park, some of them developed as site-specific projects. Among the artists are important Italian names of the postwar period, including Fausto Melotti, Pietro Consagra, or Giulio Turcato, as well as international names such as Dennis Oppenheim, César, Erik Dietman, or Nobuho Nagasawa. A pavilion in the park used for exhibitions was designed by James Wines of the New York architecture firm Site—one of the largest agencies in the field of green architecture.

About the Guide

BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors

»A COLLECTION CAN TELL A STORY«

Georgina Adam, Art Market Columnist,
Financial Times

...good that we collected 217 of them! It all started a couple of years ago with our ambitious mission to gather a list of privately owned contemporary art collections with public access from all over the world. The result of this search was the first BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors, a very handy and witty guide that was published in June 2012 and introduced readers to over 170 private art collections in 124 locations. From the beginning it was clear that the "hunt" was not over with this publication, and so our authors got together again and continued their research over the last year.

Within the last 12 months, the team managed to find 49 new collections in some rather spectacular and also unexpected locations. So the recently launched second edition of the BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors includes exciting collections from the shore of New Zealand to the heights of Norway and from the underestimated city of Dhaka to the hyped Tel Aviv.

Have a look at the second edition of the BMW Art Guide by Independent Collectors – the global guide to private yet publicly accessible collections of contemporary art: 217 art collections, 156 locations, 41 countries. The Art Guide is available for sale in major bookstores around the world and online.
